REACH THE RIGHT PEOPLE

Investigate a search change before reacting

Use a timeline and page-level evidence to make a better diagnosis.

Write down what changed

Record the dates, affected pages and whether the change appears in impressions, clicks or both. Compare equivalent periods and check for reporting anomalies. A chart alone does not identify a cause.

Check more than one explanation

Review recent site changes, access problems and shifts in search demand. Google’s official guidance describes several possible causes for traffic drops, including technical issues, seasonality and ranking updates.

Keep the response testable

Choose a specific issue you can verify, record the intended improvement and avoid changing unrelated parts of the site at once. Leave enough time and context to assess results. A sudden traffic movement does not justify a claim that one universal fix exists.
